Review: Creperie Du Chateau – Annecy, France : eB6ainiya

A couple of days had passed since my dad’s surgery so we opted to go out and see the city. My dad was giving me an indication earlier that a walk around the city might be short especially for him. Quickly enough, he started to feel tired and asked to go back to the hotel and rest. It was dinner time when I dropped him off and I was starving to death! I didn’t want to eat in a restaurant alone so I thought about A quick fix .. which means having a crepe. The city is filled with average creperie and you can’t miss them but I haven’t thought I’ll end up in a special one. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Creperie Du Chateau.

I sat in this old and uninspired cafe with a grim on my face. What made me more depressed is when I saw their extremely cheesy and ugly looking menu (every page is unlike the other and each page has a different watermarked food picture) I was so hungry so I chose a savory crepe called “Vincent” which has (Oeuf, Champignons a la creme, Emmental cheese fondue) it also had “Jambon” (Pork) which I asked them to remove it.

They first brought a complimentary of a green salad with a dressing that tasted like a runny salty yoghurt. It was nice and refreshing.

Then came the unexpected. A crepe like no other and I was in owe. Just .. Look at it!

A runny egg, mushrooms, mushroom cream, and emmental cheese fondue.

A puffed savory crepe that looked like a volcano which is about to explode .. Literally! All I can see and smell is the generous amount of crispy emmental cheese. The smell was a killer!

I pop the crepe with my fork and I can see is an eruption. A mix of runny egg, mushrooms and a la creme cheese flooding together in harmony.

I took a bite and all I can say is .. Oh .. My .. God! I’ve tried crepes in a lot of places around the world but nothing seemed like this. Not even close. The unique look and texture of this crepe is out of this world.

Dear readers, what you’re looking at right now is the best savory crepe I’ve ever had in my life.

All in all, An extraordinary find for such a marvelous crepe makes me both happy and sad. Happy because I was able to find it and sad because I’m going to miss it. No doubt about that.
